About SHAPE
Our Mission and Motivation
Over the last two decades, hospital medicine has become the fastest growing medical discipline in the US. To stay at pace with this growing field, Stanford responded by establishing the Stanford Hospitalist Advanced Practice & Education (SHAPE) Program in 2015. SHAPE was the first resident-created hospitalist training track in the country, and it continues to provide a robust training experience for aspiring hospitalists to this day.
SHAPE is designed to foster professional growth and teach the skills that are highly sought after for future hospitalists, including: procedural skills, POCUS, surgical co-management, quality improvement, medical education, and clinical research. Its goal is to make graduates competetive for the ever-changing job market that they will face after residency training. To that end, SHAPE also offers focused mentorship, career guidance, and an annual career night to enable residents to reach their ultimate potential out of training.
Eligibility
SHAPE is open to Stanford Internal Medicine Residents. This program can be combined with any of the PODs and will be complementary to your career goals. All current R1s and R2s are eligible to apply. Please contact Dr. Kumar at akumar3@stanford.edu if you are interested in learning more about eligibility.
